Transformative Bodywork.

There's massage. Then there's work that listens.

Transformative Bodywork is personalized therapeutic massage in Austin, Texas, shaped by your concerns, your movement, and the responses Erik notices during a session. Drawing on more than 25 years of practice, he works with patterns of tension, restriction, and discomfort without relying on a standard full-body routine.

What to expect

What a Session Is Like

Massage table in the Positive Pressure studio, with warm lamplight, plants and artwork.

A session begins with what brings you in: where you feel discomfort, which movements seem restricted, and what you would like from the appointment.

Erik may observe how you move and consider how different areas of the body relate to one another. Sometimes the work starts where you feel the most discomfort. Other times, exploring another area first seems more useful.

As the session progresses, your feedback and physical responses help guide what comes next. The plan can change, and your comfort remains part of the conversation.

Your experience matters

Listening Beyond the Physical

People often arrive carrying more than physical tension. Work pressures, difficult relationships, grief, or other emotional stresses may influence how they experience their bodies.

Erik welcomes whatever context you choose to share. It may affect the pace of the session, the pressure used, or where he begins. You are never expected to discuss personal matters, and he does not assume that a physical restriction has an emotional cause.

That attention to the person's wider experience is an important part of how he works.

Methods and comfort

Techniques and Pressure

Erik draws on myofascial techniques, Active Release Technique, targeted stretching, and other therapeutic massage and bodywork methods. The particular combination depends on your priorities and how the work is progressing.

Some areas may benefit from specific, deeper pressure. Others call for a gentler touch or a change in position or movement. The intention is to support comfort and ease of movement, with the approach adjusted to your response.
