EFT & Parts-Informed Work
Attentive Witness offers Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, also called tapping) and parts-informed self-exploration with Erik Kuykendall. Sessions are available in person in Austin, Texas, or virtually.
People come with a wide range of concerns, from recurring emotional reactions to experiences they find difficult to put into words. The work is conversational and shaped around what feels useful to explore.
Why people come
When a Pattern Keeps Returning
You may understand a familiar reaction and still find yourself having it. Certain memories can bring up strong feelings long afterward. At times you might notice hesitation, worry, or an inner conflict without knowing quite where it comes from.
Some people have a specific issue in mind. Others begin with a feeling or a question. Either can be a starting point.
How the approaches work
EFT and Parts-Informed Work
Emotional Freedom Techniques uses gentle tapping on specific points of the body while bringing attention to thoughts, feelings, memories, or physical sensations. The process offers a structured way to notice your responses as you explore a concern.
Parts-informed work considers how different aspects of ourselves may respond differently to the same situation. You might want to make a change and also feel an unexpected reluctance. A response that once seemed protective may no longer feel useful. Rather than treating those reactions as obstacles to push past, Erik invites curiosity about what they may represent.
The approaches may be used together or separately according to what unfolds in the appointment.
The experience
What Happens During a Session?
Sessions generally begin with a conversation about what brings you in and what you would like to explore. From there, the work may include tapping, reflective dialogue, and attention to shifts in feeling or physical experience.
Some sessions stay with one concern. Others uncover connections that were not apparent at the start. Erik will check in as needed, and you can ask questions or pause at any point.
What the name means
Why the Name Attentive Witness?
Through years of bodywork and emotional exploration, Erik has come to value being present without deciding what someone else's experience should mean.
The name reflects that intention: to bring careful attention and companionship to the process while leaving room for people to arrive at their own understanding.

Time enough to settle in.
Recommended for first appointments and continuing sessions
The 90-minute format allows time to get acquainted, explore a concern, and work without rushing. Sessions are available in person in Austin or virtually.
Shorter 60-minute appointments may be arranged for established clients when appropriate. No package commitment is required.

Working Together Over Time
A single appointment can bring a meaningful change in perspective or emotional experience. For recurring patterns or pressing concerns, Erik has found that regular appointments over approximately three months can offer valuable continuity.
Meeting over time provides opportunities to notice changes, return to what arises between visits, and explore something that was not immediately clear in the first session. Frequency depends on your needs, preferences, and circumstances. Appointments are booked individually.
